Sharon has been obsessed with hair ever since she was a little girl, so much so that she used to put pins and rollers in her dad’s hair. As Sharon got older she conceded to her father’s wishes to get a college degree. She attended several colleges but always knew she was not following her dreams. She only wanted to do hair…she couldn’t think of anything else. Eventually Sharon built up enough confidence to follow her passion to go to Cosmetology School.
Since then, the ride has been amazing! After Cosmetology School Sharon did an internship in Chicago at a very prestigious salon on the corner of Oak and Rush in the heart of the Goldcoast. Under the supervision of Robert Hardy she learned the foundation of everything she would come to know about coloring hair.
After a few years, Sharon began managing and doing hair at the East Bank Club in Chicago. At the same time, Sharon started educating for a major hair care company and was soon offered a full time position to launch a new hair color line with the same manufacturer. This experience took Sharon around the country to salons in all the major cities teaching stylists about corrective color and highlighting hair. However, the travel was exhausting and it was at that time in her life she decided to settle down and start a family.
Her daughter Ella was born in 2001 and shortly after Sharon found herself as a single parent needing to be the primary provider for Ella. Once again, she found the strength within herself and secured a great position at Lifetime Fitness as lead stylist. As her clientele grew she began to feel the desire to work for herself. She renovated part of her home into a beautiful salon space and started servicing her guests. The business grew very quickly, but almost as quickly began to affect her home life. As her clientele grew it became apparent that a salon space outside of her home needed to happen.
In 2011 a beautiful salon space was found in Arlington Heights that could not only accommodate her growing business but would also feel like the “home” environment her guests had grown to love… Suddenly, House of Blonde became a reality. Sharon leads her team as Creative Director and oversees all education at House of Blonde. She is fully committed to rigorous education and solid training. She believes growing new stylists right out of school is the best time to train and educate while they are still open to training and learning her advanced techniques.
In January 2013, Sharon received one of the highest certifications in the Industry, she became a Redken Certified Haircolorist. This certification is only given to Stylists that have achieved the highest technical skills in the beauty industry and have achieved Redken’s “standard of excellence” in the area of hair color.
